Key Features of an Effective Compliance Function
Overview
The Compliance Function is recognised by all stakeholders as a crucial control element of a firm’s second line of defence. Employing best compliance practice is essential in today’s environment and this course is designed to demonstrate best practice in all key elements of the Function’s activities.
This course will provide Compliance Officers with the tools to work with Senior Management to embed both a Compliance Programme and a Compliance Culture into the everyday activities of their firm, and has been designed by Peter Haines, one of the co-authors of the British Standards Institute’s guidelines for an effective Compliance function and is based on his many years’ experience of acting as a Senior Compliance Officer in global institutions, as well as latterly acting as Interim Compliance Officer in smaller firms.
Who is this for?
The course is designed for Compliance staff at all levels. Senior Compliance staff will be able to benchmark their function against best practice, while other Compliance staff can put their existing experience into the context of running the Compliance Function in the future.

Virtual Delivery
Our virtual training courses are designed to be every bit as engaging as our in-person courses. To achieve this, our trainers use market-leading technology and a range of training techniques to ensure high levels of interaction with participants. Courses include the use of:
- Virtual ‘break-out’ rooms: participants are divided into virtual rooms to facilitate small group discussion.
- Polling: multiple-choice questions, answered anonymously, allow the trainer to assess knowledge and understanding across the group.
- Case studies: true to life case studies and scenarios are used to highlight the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
- Messaging: participants can submit questions and comments, either to the whole group or privately to the trainer.

Recording: public course participants have the option to access a recording of the course for one month after the course. In-House clients also have the option to record their training for an additional fee.

In-Person Delivery
